Thank you for your interest in submitting your film to the 2014 Media That Matters Film Festival. Our call for entries is now open. Please copy and paste the application form on this page and email it to us with a hyperlink to your film, do not forget to include any necessary login or password information.

Following New York City Premiere, Awards Ceremony, Educator’s Forum and industry networking events in early October 2014 (date TBD), your film will take part in the Media That Matters international, multi-platform campaign with DVD distribution, broadcasts, streaming and hundreds of screenings across the globe! Hundreds of thousands of people, including educators, activists and nonprofits, will watch and use your film.

Film Length:
Keep it short; all submission must be under 12 minutes.

All Genres:
Documentary, animation, PSA, experimental, narrative, music videos - be creative!


Social Issues:
All submissions must clearly address a social-justice issue

This year we are looking for films on Environment and Sustainability, Healthy Living for Young People, Sexual Identity - but all social issues are accepted. Youth-produced projects are encouraged.

Three Submissions Maximum:
Please, limit your submissions to no more than three films per filmmaker, organization, school, etc.

Official Media That Matters Film Festival (MTM) Submission Rules

All entries must be licensed under a Creative Commons license. Before submitting, read this page and make sure you understand how Creative Commons licenses work.

Final deadline for all submissions is May 15, 2014. All entry fees are non-refundable.  All films must have a running time of 12 minutes or less. The Media That Matters Films Festival (henceafter referred to as MTM) is permitted non-exclusive limited use of film titles, trailers, posters and film excerpts for promotional use including online, print or broadcast media.  Filmmakers (hereafter referred to as Applicant) fully retain all rights, title and interest in their films and all intellectual property.

The Applicant (individual, company, organization) submitting the film hereby warrants that it is authorized to commit the film for screening, and understands and accepts these requirements and regulations.

The undersigned shall indemnify and hold harmless MTM from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney’s fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening videos entered.

MTM reserves the right to disqualify, without refund of any or all submission fees previously collected from the Applicant, any Film with a submission form that is considered to be delinquent due to the non-payment of any or all submission fees. MTM may attempt, but is under no obligation, to contact the Applicant using the contact information provided on the submission form in an effort to bring the payment status of the account up-to-date. MTM disavows any responsibility for, and will not be held responsible for, any failure to contact the Applicant and inform the Applicant of any payment delinquency or other deficiency of a submission form.

Films accepted by MTM into the Festival will be placed, at the sole and absolute discretion of the Festival Programming department.
